A visit to the White Villages or to the capital Cadiz (the most ancient city in western Europe), are some of the places that you can visit from Chiclana. Also within Chiclana you can follow the route of the Puntos Mágicos (Magic spots), go on a boat ride to see Sancti Petri castle close-up, or walk along La Barrosa beach until you reach the old fishing village of Sancti Petri.

Are you looking to visit cities close to Chiclana? There are many really interesting choices. You won't believe how many!

Cádiz | 28 km. from Chiclana
This is the oldest city in western Europe. The Spanish Havana, the silver cup, the home of carnival.... All this and much more makes this a unique city. If you closed your eyes and were transported to somewhere on the planet, which happened to be in Cadiz, you would instantly recognise it by its individual traits that can't be found in any other city. The cathedral is visible from the beach promenade, the old town is truly authentic, and Phoenician and Roman remains are found everywhere..... This is an obligatory visit. Lots of history and lots to see and eat. If you enjoy carnivals, this is your place: it hosts one of the most impressive carnivals in the world.

San Fernando | 14,4 km. from Chiclana
The closest city. La Isla (as it is popularly known), is internationally famous for being the birthplace of Camarón, the best Flamenco singer of all time. Along with this, it is well known locally for the Shopping Centre Bahia Sur Chiclana does not have any centres of this type. If you want to go on a shopping spree you can do it here or in Jerez. The people of San Fernando refer to it as "cañaílla", which is also the name of an edible mollusc indigenous to the area. There is a small rivalry between San Fernando and Chiclana, both of which claim that the Phoenician castle of Sancti Petri belongs to them.

Conil | 18,3 km from Chiclana
Charming fishing town with impressive beaches and coves. One of the most touristic in the area. Conil has succeeded in combining the tradition of its alleys with a leisure and nightlife that has caused it to thrive over time. The nightlife is great here and very lively in the summer months. Try the local fresh Almadraba tuna. Conil beach is joined to that of Chiclana and you can get from one to the other walking along the shore.

El Puerto de Santa María | 37,6 Km
Popular for its fresh fish and seafood, and for being the home of El Romerijo: a restaurant where seafood is sold on a huge scale. However, if you are not impressed by the greatness of this brand, and you head into the area along the river in El Puerto, you will find many bars with fresh products of the day, no frozen food here, which are strong rivals of Romerijo. El Puerto de Santa María is also known for being the town of the poet Rafael Alberti [his museum house is found here].
The catamarans have a frequent service. If you have never been on one it is quite an experience taking one of these boats from or to Cadiz. Close to the catamaran stop is a bodega which is well worth a visit, the Osborne bodega. Inside you can see how Sherry is produced and the different aging techniques, you can try the best known examples of this brand, visit the museum and souvenir shop. El Puerto de Santa María also has beaches but they are not the most spectacular in the area.

Medina Sidonia | 22,1 km. from Chiclana
Famous for its sweets and cakes and incredible architectural heritage. Also well-known for being the "balcony of the Bay" due to its height from where you can see the entire Bay of Cadiz. It is worth a wander around to delight the sight and senses. Many people from Chiclana take part in bus trips to Medina just to buy the local handmade sweets.

Vejer and Arcos | 32 km and 73 km away respectively. Two impressive White Towns.
These are the two best known White Towns by the residents of Chiclana. Beauties with Arab legacy. Steep narrow streets which conserve the images of bygone years. Vejer also has the luck of having a stunning beach close by (the beach of El Palmar). These are two towns which bewitch all those who visit them and should not be missed.
