See for the most typical celebrations / parties of the area. Don´t miss them!

FEBRUARY
Carnival – street parties and fancy dress parades take place in many towns throughout Cadiz province. They normally end on the 47th day before Easter Sunday.

MARCH/APRIL
Semana Santa celebrations take place during holy week (the week before Easter Sunday). This is a major celebration throughout the whole of Spain. Almost every town and village will have parades, with extravagant holy images on display. Large crowds take over the streets. In the larger cities daily processions will take place from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday.

The nearby town of Arcos de la Frontera holds a fantastic procession. In the local villages, celebrations tend to be smaller, but can be very unique. They are often lively occasions, and a good way to meet people.

JUNE
San Antonio festival – another major event and one of the most popular in Spain. It combines religion and flamenco.

JULY
Romeria de la Virgen del Carmen – thousands come to take part in the mass pilgrimage from the shrine of Santo Cristo to Sancti Petri. The image of the Virgin Del Carmen is paraded on a small boat or flotilla in the ocean. Also in July, we have the Santa Ana festival – a dramatic fireworks exhibition..

SEPTEMBER
Virgen de los Remedios. Chiclana holds a big fiesta for its Patron Saint (Virgen de los Remedios). It takes place from the 13th to the 17th of August.

NOVEMBER
All Saints Day – many small and unusual street markets selling all kinds of fruits and vegetables.
