How to get to Chiclana by car from Madrid

1. From Madrid, take the autovía (highway) A-4 towards Ocaña/Córdoba.

You will pass by the towns of Ocaña (km. 63), and Valdepeñas (km. 208). Before coming to the town of Andujar (km.325), you will encounter a major split in the highway. One goes towards Malaga/Granada and the other towards Cordoba. Remember that along this part of your journey, you should always follow signs for Cordoba/Sevilla.

The next town you will come to will be Andujar (km.325), then the city of Cordoba (km.400), and then the city of Seville (Sevilla).

2. Once you get to Sevilla, you should take the la autovía de circunvalación SE-30 (a highway that circles around the city of Seville) in direction Cádiz/Huelva/Mérida.

3. Once you are on the SE-30 continue until you can take the salida (exit) 9 where there should be a sign for Puerto Este/Cádiz. Take this exit, and it should lead you to the autovía (highway) A-4/E-5 towards Cadiz.

4. Later, you will come to divide in the highway. You can either take N-IV, or take the toll highway AP-4.We recommend that you take AP-4 because, even though there is a small toll to pay, it’s much faster.

5. Continue on AP-4 until you reach another exit (about 100 km down), on kilometer 44 - salida 44 Lebrija/Las Cabezas. From here, you will come to the tollbooth where you will have to pay 5.50 euros to continue along the highway.

6. After the tollbooth, continue on the AP-4 towards Cadiz until you get to salida 101. Take salida 101 in direction Puerto de Santa María/San Fernando/Algeciras. Once you have taken the exit, you will come to another split in the highway in which you should merge towards the direction of San Fernando/Algeciras.

7. Continue on highway A-4/E-5 for another 10 Km. or so until you reach salida 668 -Chiclana/Algeciras.

8. Once you’ve taken the exit, you will be on the la autovía del Sur A-48. You should follow signs for Chiclana de la Frontera/Algeciras/Algeciras.

After about 6 kilometers, you should see the first of four main exits into the city of Chiclana.

The four exits are the following in order of appearance:

a. The first exit you will see (salida 3, Chiclana de la Frontera - centro urbano) is the best exit to take to access downtown Chiclana. You can also access beaches and hotels from here, although you will have to drive quite a bit and follow several indication signs to get there.

b. The second exit (salida 7, Medina- Cementerio) will take you to the cemetery or into Chiclana. This exit will also take you to the road that goes to the small town of Medina (about 30-40 minutes away, in the foothills).


c. The third exit to Chiclana (salida 10, Chiclana de la Frontera - La Barrosa N-340a) is a good exit to take to get to hotels and beaches, including Novo Sancti Petri. Just follow the many signs that point the way to the beach, and as you get closer to the beach, you will see signs pointing the way to hotels. From this exit you also can get to the city center, though you will have to drive a bit and follow the indication signs to get there.

d. The fourth exit (salida 15 Conil Norte – El Colorado – La Barrosa) is almost on the border of Conil de la Frontera. If you take this exit, you can also get back to Chiclana by a small local road (N-340). One direction takes you to Chiclana, and the other to Conil (in direction to El Colorado). If you take the way marked ‘El Colorado,’ some meters before entering the small town, you will find a detour that will lead you to Novo Sancti Petri’s beaches and hotels.
